Extend, hedge and speculate — the moves that push fluency from 6.5 to 7.
Band 6.5 answers respond. Band 7 answers develop: they take a position, qualify it and give a reason or example without hesitating. Record each answer and time yourself.

Answer in 3 sentences: position → reason → example. 'Do you think working from home will continue?'

Answer with hedging language: 'Will books disappear in the future?'

Compare two ideas in one answer: 'Is it better to learn a language at school or as an adult?'

Record yourself answering: 'What are the disadvantages of relying on technology in education?' Then listen back and count fillers, repeated words and self-corrections.
- Aim for 45–60 seconds without long pauses
- Replace 'things like that' with a real example
- Use one hedge (tends to / arguably / I'd imagine) rather than absolute claims

Re-record the same answer after upgrading two vocabulary choices and adding one complex sentence.
- Do not memorise — change the language, keep the ideas spontaneous
- One relative or conditional clause is enough
- Fluency outranks perfection: keep going rather than restarting
