Intro
The diagram illustrates how a bus-priority system operates at urban junctions.
Process
First, traffic sensors detect an approaching bus and send a signal to a central control unit. The unit then checks whether the bus is running behind schedule.
Process
If a delay is identified, the traffic lights are adjusted to give the bus an early green signal. Once the bus has cleared the junction, the system resets and standard signal timings resume.
